About Log Volume Calculator
This calculator estimates the board feet yield of logs using traditional scaling rules. Board feet is the standard unit for lumber volume in North America, equivalent to a 1" × 12" × 12" board.
Log Rules: Different rules account for saw kerf, waste, and log taper differently. Choose the rule that best matches your sawmill's capabilities and local practices.
Standing Trees: For trees still standing, use diameter at breast height (4.5' off the ground) and estimate the usable log length. Form class indicates tree taper.
